Salary: $1009.78 - $1613.00
Department: Uniform Division
ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: A non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
 

Responsibilities
Performs inspections of taxicabs and limousines by checking every vehicle for current permits, ensuring vehicles with failed permits are not operating, running a meter test on every taxicab quarterly (limousines semi-annually), ensuring all vehicles pay the street use fee to the City and checking backgrounds for compliance for those applying for a chauffeur permit. Performs field inspections by inspecting units at the airport and other areas throughout the City to ensure compliance with City ordinance. Enforces the City ordinance by maintaining a system of records of certificate holders, recording actions taken from suspending or revoking privileges of owners and/or drivers and recording charges of convictions, reprimands and warnings given to owners/drivers. Provides customer service by investigating complaints, working with the Corpus Christi Police Department to resolve complaints and overseeing companies and drivers for hire by the City. Duties of this position necessitate driving to sites within the City. Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skills by keeping required license/certification current.
 

Qualifications
Work requires 2 years of college and knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.

In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

This position is classified as "Safety Sensitive". All employees in safety sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing, pursuant to City policy, HR 15.0 Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
