ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hr work week, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the adopted codes and ordinances; perform specialized and technical plan examination of commercial and residential projects; recommend amendments to the building codes; coordinates issues between plan examination staff and inspection staff; coordinates interpretations of building codes, FEMA and Texas Department of Insurance; meet with members of the community such as architects, engineers, designers, developers, contractors and home owners; assist in damage assessment activities; perform field inspections of building projects.
Qualifications
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two (2) year Associate's Degree, Diploma, or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school and four (4) years of work related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advance study or training. Must have or be able to obtain a ICC Commercial Plan Examiner certification within six (6) months of hire. Must have a current drivers license at time of application and time of hire.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
