ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

The IT Program Coordinator for Public Safety Support is responsible for managing the technology used by the Police, Fire, Emergency Operations Center, and Municipal Court. This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating and reporting on the status of hardware, software, and telecommunications systems used primarily by the Public Safety departments in their daily operation. The IT Program Coordinator for Public Safety will proactively work with these departments to implement practices that meet their defined policies and standards. The IT Program Coordinator for Public Safety must be highly knowledgeable about the specific requirements of the Public Safety business environment and must ensure that information systems are maintained in a fully functional, secure mode.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage the day to day support of technology used by the Public Safety departments. Manage MIS staff assigned to support Public Safety information technology systems. Coordinate Public Safety Support activities with other MIS functional areas as required to complete project-based support activities. Maintain relationships among Public Safety Departments and MIS in order to assure that MIS services are aligned with Public Safety Departmental requirements. Provide subject matter expertise on a broad range of information technology standards and best practices to ensure that Public Safety requirements are factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration of hardware, applications and software. Assess and report on issues and recommend remedial action. Provide direction and in-house consulting to facilitate the development of disaster recovery procedures to ensure that mission-critical services are recovered in the event of a disaster. Participate in problem and change management forums.

Qualifications

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four (4) years of high school or equivalency. Must have eight (8) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass all background checks necessary for access to Public Safety systems by the City of Corpus Christi, associated State of Texas agencies, and associated Federal agencies.


Related professional certifications are beneficial as well. Candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to communicate security concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences. Candidate must also possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills to analyze requirements and relate them to appropriate controls. They must also have a high level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and exude the appropriate level of judgment and maturity. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of tools and technologies and their implications on the broader business environment. Good business process knowledge and understanding of business objectives to translate them into technology requirements.
