General Summary: Provides substance abuse counseling for chemically dependent clients referred by the courts. Provides assessments, evaluations, individual/group counseling education, tratment plan development, family counseling and other residential counseling related tasks.
Licenses: Must be licensed as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDCCI) or equivalent.
Preferred knowledge and skills: Ability to function with minimum supervision and direction; to understand statutes and regulations relating to probation to conduct investigations and report results; to administer basic testing instruments and write individual treatment plans. Ability to conduct individual or group counseling; prepare psychosocial histories and intake/screening evaluations. Ability to develop and implement life skills programs for residents. Ability to prepare and present drug and alcohol education classes to groups. Ability to coordinate A.A., N.A., C.A., meetings and other therapeutic/educational programs with other community agencies. Knowledge of various treatment modalities for working with chemically dependent persons. Establish and maintain effective client relationships and work effectively with county officials/employees, representatives of agencies, and the general public.
